Back...and gone again

Good morrow my people,

Yes, it is really me after a long..hiatus, break, sabbatical, just not being around anywhere, etc. I've actually been missing the good old geeky blogging I used to do, and it's not like I haven't had anything to say about what's going down in the tubes. And so here I am, winging my way back into the fold every so slowly....but not here.

So I've loaded up the the truck and I'm moving to my own space. So how about coming to visit me at thebrownspoon.com? It's not fully furnished yet, but it's mine and hopefully comfy to you all as well(assuming anyone is still out there checking the feed). Speaking of the feed, if you are subscribed to the Feedburner feed, nothing should change for you.

So come see me why don't you? Keep me company

Can't leave blogging alone, the game needs me

Okay, that's pretty much not all true, but the first part is. It's been awhile since I've posted here and have kind of missed it. I've definitely had plenty of things to talk about even if I didn't post. Chances are, I will probably get around to putting them up especially since most if not all have to do with something geeky, techy, and thereby relevant. Incidentally, The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is going on as I'm writing this. There will not doubt be 2010 version of the Want List, for sure. I have been quite lazy about a lot of things, this being but one, but I am in the midst of finding my flow again. . Not really a new year's thing, just a thing in general. Oh, I'm also considering moving this blog since I now have another blog that's being hosted somewhere. So for those one or two of you that still check for me in your RSS readers after all this time, thank you. I hope I am what you expected. :)

And now, on the the geekery...!

The toy Gods, they love me!

No words need to be spoken on how awesome this is! A USB flash drive that transforms into the Decepticon, Ravage. If you know what that last sentence means, you are already trying to click a buy button somewhere. Well sadly, there isn't one because it comes out in September, but there is a preorder button here:

Transforming USB Flash Memory (2 GB) - Ravage - Transformers Device Label Device Label at BigBadToyStore

Now, do I care that this thing only has 2GB of memory & that it's $42.99? Hell Frakking no! As a matter of fact, check out these other transforming USB devices while you're there. That Blaster transforming USB hub might also be on my list. Go, go now!

(You know, I now wish I hadn't given away all of my Transformers when I was younger)

I found out about this article from my twin, Lizmoney. Thanks Sug!

So this article from laptoplogic.com (which is a good resource to bookmark) has been in circulation for weeks now. Reading it got me to thinking. There is a lot of these that I don't even know or have down pat(Yep, I heard the sound of Geek cred fall just by saying that). Don't get me wrong, I can at least say that I have a good solid double digits of info in my cranium from this list, but clearly, I've been slippin'. HARD! And so here we are and here you go if you hadn't seen this before. Use it to test your geek, or the geek of someone you know. Even better, if you're not a geek, check it out anyway. Knowledge is power, and this stuff could save you life...ok maybe your computer, but they are a part of life so there!

Go in, go hard, and get to geeking.

Oh, and before I forget, there's one more thing that all geeks that all geeks should know. Theme music: Every good geek should have one:

How's about that, it seems that it's that time again

In the 365 days a year we have, there is only one set aside for love. I'm not here to debate how wrong that is(because it is), but what I am hear to tell you about is that during this time of joy, there is an event of monumental proportions happening. What is this event I'm speaking of? It is the annual Cupid Hunt Podcast Event sired by Mr. TGrundy aka "Mr. Brilliant". Recall, if you will, my mentioning of it(pause for dream sequence). Done? Good, well now it's that time again, and guess who's joined in the fun? ME! Kind of makes sense, I speak on music occasionally. I've posted playlists in a couple of places on the net. Natural fit, right? Of course it is.

So I know you're asking the question: "Roddy, where can these mixes be found?" Well, younglings, I will tell you. The Great List of mixes and also information on the Cupid Hunt can be found at TGrundy's site, Rhythms In Black Satin.  I recommend you go there & have at all of the mixes available. You will NOT be disappointed! Now, if you are possibly saying to yourself, "Didn't he just mention that he did a mix? Where is that?" Well, that was nice of you to notice. In addition to a link to my mix being found at TGrundy's site, you can go directly there from here:

Cupid Hunt 2009: Lights, Camera, Slow Jams [Music inspired by the music inspired by Motion Picture love]*

More on that particular site next post. For now, enjoy the music. :)

* I almost went with this as the title of my mix. Almost.

My first job: landscaping

Well, if you're not going to count being born in a time when there were no child labor laws...

It was a summer job. I was an "assistant" groundskeeper for the community I lived in. Assistant meaning that I, and one other person, did the work while our supervisor rode around in an air conditioned truck. Mostly painting hot, concrete tunnels on paths, raking, & a little lawn mowing. May have lost 10-15 pounds that summer. Ahh, memories.
