Keeping this one short, folks. Just follow the linky goodness & everything will be ok. There is a lot to keep up with from CES. The main things are: thinner, internet connected TV's. That said, here are some of the other things:

Pogoplug - Make any external hard drive accessible from the web. I LIKE IT!

Acoustic Research Harmony Remote killers - If you ever used the multi device controlling goodness of a Logitech Harmony Remote, you will love these. Nuff Said.


Dish Network Terabyte HD-DVR - A DVR(think Tivo) is already Heaven on Earth. So how about adding a honking big hard drive & the ability to watch all of you DVR'd goodness when you are on the road Slingbox style. Your dreams (and mine) have now been fulfilled. Please buy me one when they are available this Spring. I will love you FOREVER!

Realview 3-D desktop scanner - Ok, I have no real use for this, but it is cool. A 3-D scanner, what can be cooler than that, outside of the stuff mentioned above?

Samsung MBP200 Pico Projector - I've mentioned a projector similar to this in the last post. I would love one of these to take on trips. It would fit right in with my Geek travel kit(a post for another time).

Samsung HT-BD1250 Home Theater Systems - Yes, Home Theater Systems are nothing new, or are they. These babies are taking it to the next level by adding support for Internet connected services like Blu-ray DVD's BD-Live, Netflix streaming video, & my personal favorite, Pandora Internet Radio(you all know how much I LOVE Pandora).

Wowwee's 2009 product line - From the home of the sometimes lifelike, possibly potential killer animatronic toy makers, comes a bunch of goodies that you will have to check out for yourself. The ipod projector might be cool. The Koala is cute, but I wouldn't turn my back on that summa beach for a millisecond. Yes, I love robotics as much as the next guys, but I am also on Ropocalypse watch. Zombie watch too, but that doesn't fit for this post.

You all know what time it is. It's a new year which means CES is here. The Consumer Electronics Show that happens every year around this time(this year Jan. 8th-11th). This also means that it's time for Geek Christmas. And this year proposes not to suck like last year did, I'm happy to say. If fact, I have some picks of the show already, thanks to Engadget. The want list for this year is looking to be pretty good. Now if only the "can get" funds would work with me. Anyway, check these out & I'll be back later with more.

Asus EEE PC T91 Tablet


Ok, I've been looking into Netbooks(more on that later) for months now. The only other thing I've been looking into are Tablet PC's. Asus read my mind...Ok, it was a natural progression, but work with me. You basically have a laptop roughly the size of the Amazon Kindle. HELL YES! That's exactly what i've been looking for. I think I'm in love...depending on price, memory, & battery issues, that is. Still love.


LG GD910 wrist phone


Not much to say. Get your Dick Tracy on with this watch. Yea you'll look stupid talking to a watch, but compared to walking around with an earpiece talking to yourself like a fool(confession: I've done it. Don't act like I'm the only one). And it's not ugly, either.


Just about anything from BUG Labs

I've not talked about these folks before, I don't think. The BUG Labs folks make mini modular kits that you can mix & match to do what ever is offered. It's pretty cool. They now have a projector based on Texas Instruments' Pico technology. May have talked about having projectors in cellphones before, the same tech is here. I need to look into this stuff even more.

Yes folks, it's that time again. The Consumer Electronics Show (January 7-10) comes to Sin City bringing joy, merriment, (A Porn convention across the street), all types of gadgety goodness upon the land. I believe last year I called it a geeks Second Christmas or something like that, not that we needed one. The good part is that the show brings with it all of the tech goodies that will possibly come out during the year. The bad parts, I probably can't afford some of the stuff I would no doubt drool over if I was there and , oh yeah, I'M NOT THERE! But I can't let that stop me from watching the no doubt extensive coverage from CNET and Engadget (among other places) that will be going on. There will be announcements and products big and small and during the course of the week (because I do have to work and won't have a heck of a lot of time to sift through 3 days worth of stuff), I will bring you what I will probably drool over for months to come(in the form of my Want List). It could be this years entries for the worlds biggest TVs or perhaps some gaming peripherals or cellphones or whatnots. Things have already started being announced so I'm already behind. So hopefully, I will through up some stuff i find later on today if not tomorrow. Stick around if you hadn't clicked away already. If you haven't, you're a braver soul than I thought.

Oh, there are also discussion panels that go on during CES so if you like that kind of stuff, there are podcast (audio and video) feeds that can be subscribed to from here. I haven't checked any of it out yet, but there is plenty to go through.

First of all, I want to say thanks to the one or two people (if that many. I hadn't been able to get my metrics) that stuck with me through my geekfest last week. I will be returning to my regular geekfest after this post. Right now, I present some of the last few notables of the stuff I'm still looking through from the coverage.

Good for the nest of power cables behind the stereo equipment (or in my case, the two computers I have connected in addition to) and/or home theater system you might have. Every plug has it's socket, just like sex.



LV VX9400 (i've mentioned this one before)





Not much to say about this. It's a cellphone. A sweet looking, screen flipping, TV capable cellphone. Yep, you should be able to catch [Insert show of choice] when at [Insert event] or doing [I really don't know]. Now, before you get too excited, Verizon is starting a TV service to go along with the phone (and another one) so what channels you will have depends on that, I believe.





Nokia N95 - Another cool cellphone. Looks lika a PDA. Might be as cool as the iPhone I keep seeing things about. It's not in the States yet, so holla when it it is.

Though I am a bit tired (just got home from work). I might say this again, but i am in the market for a cellphone. CES would partially decide what I get. I would like to be with Verizio, but Cingular is aaparently getting the hotness. To me the hotness means nothing if it doesn't do what I want it do....EVERYTHING. No, really I do want it to do a lot but it can't do everything. So i'm looking through the CES coverage, and I see stuff that some of you might want, so I will try to post it here. Part of that trouble may have been taken care of by the excellent cell phone covering site, Phonescoop.com. Click the link below to see what they found. The first page talks about the LG - VX-9400 for Verizon. You can watch TV (served up by Verizon) on it. Check out the video at the bottom of the first page, too.

Need a cordless phone? Do you use Skype (you should)? You might want this phone. It's a dual mode cordless / Skype phone. Yep, it handles regular calls and Skype (In/Out) VoIP calls. I don't know how seamless it is if you got a Skype call while in the middle of a landline call, but for $200, you'd think it'd be good. Hell, tack on voicemail and speaker phone for both sides and it might be worth it. Check it out for yourself:

I've seen the first model of this computer a while ago and I liked it then. The problem, it cost a lot and was a first generation product which mean there where issues with it (battery life and processor speed being the biggest). That may have changed with the Model 2 computer from OQO. Now you say, big deal, it's a computer. WTF? Here's the scoop. It's WAY smaller than a laptop. A little bigger than a Blackberry, Treo, or PDA, and it's a FULL FLEDGED COMPUTER! No more lugging laptops (and possibly cellphones) with this thing around. It has a failry big hard drive, full keyboard(if smallish), Bluetooth, integrated high speed internet (EVDO for those who know), pen based touch screen capabilities, and a nice looking screen for the size. You could output that screen to a bigger monitor with the HDMI or VGA ports that this thing has. You need a DVD drive, there is an optional dock to hook this up to. What more would you want, breakfast? Your lazy ass has to do something for yourself. For computing on the go, this could be it. Problem is, it's GOT to be expensive and the battery appears to still not be there, but it can run Windows Vista. Just check it out and see what you think. Feel free to buy me one if you like. I won't mind.

How many times have you told yourself, "Damn, I don't have anywhere to put any speakers" or " I don't want theses speaker wires in the way or showing? Well, this and a couple of other designs are supposed to change that.



Induction Dynamics' SolidDrive SD1 turns your wall into an OK speaker - Engadget



I've heard about the sound induction technology behind this before. Basically, you use the surface that you are placing the "speaker" on AS the speaker. So, if you put this on a table, the table becomes the speaker. Put it on, or in, a wall that wall becomes the speaker box. If you are in an apartment, turn it around and fuck with your neighbors (kidding). It's a interesting idea but according to the article, it's kinda blah. If they can work that out, it'll be cool. I'm a little late with this. Every year around this time, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) comes around. Another event, the Macworld Expo, also comes around this time. Macworld shows off new Apple products. This is their first big show of the year. I don't have a Mac or and Ipod, but I will take a look and see what coming up. I don't cover it like I do CES. Fanboys and girls drool like I do over CES. CES is a big trade show that shows off a lot of the new and notable items, like TV's, cellphones, computers, stereos, mp3 players, Tivo and Tivo like products, and a whole bunch of other goodies that will come out during the course of the year. Pretty much every brand name you can think of is there and it pretty much marks the start of the Geek New Year. If you like gadgets and other consumer electronic items, this is the show to look forward to every year. I wish I could have been there. That's something I have been working on for the past year or two. In fact, if I had any New Year's resolutions, it would be to travel to shows like this and a couple of Jazz Festivals that I've been wanting to hit. Needless to say, I'm starting out wrong. Oh, one other note, CES happens in Vegas and also comes at the same time as a certain Porn convention. Coincidence, I think not. We all know Porn and tech go hand in hand. We wouldn't have had VHS or dad's if it wasn't for porn (it's true, sort of). Now you see another reason why I want to go. :) And you know, PART of what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.



Anyway, this year's CES started Monday and goes through Thursday. And in according with this yearly event, I scour the coverage of the show from a couple of different places. That's all you really need unless there is a place specializing in video (which there is).

CNET, a site I seem to reference a lot is there in force with their coverage (it's what they do).

Both places are Live blogging various press conferences where the BIG new products are being unveiled for the first time. Alot of

good lustworthy stuff comes from these places and that's where this comes in. I sift through the coverage and pick out the stuff that I'm drooling over...or just want badly. Thus, my "want list" for the start of the year. It's supposed to be comprised from stuff throughout the year, but the majority comes from CES. If fact, I see a couple of things that I plan to look into a little more thoroughly to talk about. Most you may not care, a couple of you might. It's fine either way. If '07 goes the way I think might, the content here in the blog might run all over the map anyway (and surprise a few of you). bear with me or ride with me this week. You might see something you like. From what I see right now, the word on everyone's lips is iPhone. I may give my impressions soon. It looks pretty neat, actually.
